    If you put it in and it dosen’t register then yes. Most likely it is the wrong type NOT wrong Ram but like ECC or Parity around those lines..

    May be u nvr put properly into the memory slot.Try it again.
    Ur new RAM should be same type as old one.
    Check ur motherboard model and find compatible RAM.

    Be sure that you use the original RAM
    it may your RAM has hurted
    restore default of your bios set up
