How can I get more computer memory?

I currently have 448mb of Ram, and I need 512mb. How can I get more memory on my laptop? Is buying a memory card my only solution? (serious responses please)

    RAM and Memory card are totally different things. Your laptop, depending on model, should have two RAM Slots. If you look at bottom of your laptop there will be various panels you can unscrew/remove. The panel for RAM should have a little engraved picture of what looks like a computer chip.

    I am blessed to have a Fry’s Electronics where I live…if you have Fry’s just tell them your model of laptop and they will give you your options for RAM…if you don’t have a frys, try CompUsa, or make sure what you need and order it online from tigerdirect.com, or frys.com, or whereever else you like.

    448 is an odd number for ram, and you may actually have 512 already with video ram sharing your memory ram your computer may report that lower number….or you may have one 256 RAM stick, and another lower one for example.

    Either way if one is 256 MB, all you need is to buy another 256 MB stick of ram and replace the lower one you have.

    U can’t have 448mbs of ram it doesn’t come in that denomination,it goes 128md,256mb,512mb,1024mb,etc. Starting with 128 it doubles . If ur laptop has 512mb of ram thats fine for a laptop,ram doesn’t keep memory, only when pc is on,when u turn it off ram empties. Ur hardrive is ur permanent mem ery.
