This is the simplest upgrade that almost anyone can do. It is simply opening up the case and slipping in a chip of RAM into the slot. Biggest thing is finding RAM that is the right kind for your computer. Crucial.com has a simple to use program to help figure this out.

It’s very easy. Just follow the steps outlined here:

If you want to buy RAM, get DDR2 800mhz which is standard these days. Surprisingly DDR is more expensive than DDR2 in some places. If you are running Windows XP, you should have 512 mb if not 1GB, and if running Vista, 1GB if not 2GB is recommended.

most important thing is finding compatible RAM. Crucial.com has a good tool, but you need to visit their website using Internet Explorer, or it might not work.
It will tell you what kind of RAM your system uses.
It is the easiest thing to upgrade, maybe have a friend do it to show you, then you try doing it.
Otherwise, there are some good tutorials on how to do it on the web…
Remember to disconnect ALL wires from the PC case and ground yourself before doing any work on the guts of your PC.
