How can I fix my computer’s memory?
April 14th, 2007 | by computermemory |Teddy asked:
I work at a car dealership. We operate on Windows 95 (our parts catalog won’t run on anything else). A message appears on my screen that says my computer is low on virtual memory and to go to “help.” I did what it says and the message still appears. I have deleted everything from recycle bin and all my pictures. Thank you!

am not sure, but you can try to ctrl+alt+del to bring up taskmanager and keep deleting unwanted processes to free up memory

If you want your PC to have more speed then its better if you upgrade your RAM. at the same time upgrade your hardisk for you to have more space for your files.

virtual memory is memory allocated to your HDD when RAM is full. Emptying your recycle bin and deleting pictures won’t do anything - they are stored on your HDD which is storage, RAM is memory. They’re completely different.
Your two options are to increase the amount of HDD space the OS allocates for virtual memory or upgrade your RAM, or purchase more RAM. I’m assuming the computer is rather old (because it’s running Win 95) so it may be extremely difficult (possibly impossible) to find the right type of RAM.
Goodluck!

virtual memory is a temp place on your hard disk drive and you can increase it in system properties , with win95 I would suggest you seect teh let wndows manage my virtual memory, the basic manual settings for virtual is aprox 1.5 times the size of your ram ( or memory cards totaled up) ie; say if you had 1 gig memory? then multiply it by 1.5 for 1.5 gig well in teh cae of win 95 its prolyl what 128 meg or so? same thing 1.5 multiplier but i do however suggest you use teh easy and simplest method pt a check box in the let windows manage my virtual mem size

You need to find a way to update your operating system. Windows 95 only takes a maxmium of 256MB. My sales and parts department used to have the same problem until WE upgraded our PC’s to Windows XP Pro with 1GB of RAM.
