you still can, you dont NEED one its good to have though. just before you put your ram in touch the case see if you get shocked and just put the ram in, its not like your going to be rubbing ur feet on carpet the whole time your doing it. or if your paranoid wear surgical gloves.

i have a problem :( i have 4 RAM slots, and 2 have a black colour and the other 2 have a blue colour.
in 2 black slots there is a 512 MB RAM card
and in ONE other theres only one 1 gig RAM
    .
and it works only when you inserted in BOTH slots

(that ‘Audio Preview’ is realy ignoring)

if the screw driver is magnetic it can mess up your hard drive.

  19. By onlyoneicouldget on Aug 6, 2007 | Reply

the wires can handle the charge, its pretty ubnlikely but id rather buy a 2 dollar bracelet thn screw up my computer

you also should make sure you have a non magnetic screwdriver and also you should know that you have to press pretty hard and trust me you will think your going to snap it in half but there prewtty strong and you wot, just make shure the notches are lined up

(if you push to hard and break it its not my fault)

no dont be silly it will release static electricity from your body and keep you static free for about a week

  22. By valnik89 on Aug 13, 2007 | Reply

Wouldn’t rubbing your feet against a carpet actually build-up a static charge???

  23. By pharoah246 on Aug 16, 2007 | Reply

Exactly right my friend, all you need to do is touch the metal parts with your screwdriver.

An antistatic wrist strap or ESD wrist strap is a device used to prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD) by safely grounding a person working on electronic equipment.

Most “know-it-all” half-wits out there, will tell you that this is not needed.

But I will say this. It is recommended for those who DO NOT KNOW what they are doing.

It all depends on the workspace area.
