Tisha S asked:

I have 2 128 MB memory sticks installing in my laptop (going to replace with more memory), when i go to my computer properties why does it say I have 261,532KB RAM of memory? Is there something wrong and if so how can I fix it?

    That is correct.
    128 x 2 = 256

    261,532KB to MB = 255.402344 megabytes

255 is about 256, its never exact due to format and whatnot…

    Its prefect!

    128 x 2 = 256 kilobytes

    261 532 byte = 255.402344 kilobytes

    so, it’s normal.

The 261,532kb RAM your computer properties is showing you is the total amount of installed RAM on your computer.

There are 1,024k in 1mb of RAM. Therefore, if you take 261,532 & divide by 1,024 you get 255.40mbs. Round that up to the nearest even number which is 256mb of RAM.

    You have 2 sticks of RAM at 128 each. 128 + 128 = 256.
