Hi,
I know eventually computers break and their hardrives go ‘rrr rrr’ and break and their memory is lost but I am asking about how to PREVENT that from happening because I know there’s a chance that it might?

No matter how much we would like to prevent breakdowns, they just happen, with hardware.

Even new computer components can have defects and break down.

What I would suggest is, enjoy your computer, and don’t worry about something that hasn’t happened.

You will not be able to prevent the HD address goes bad, but if you run chkdsk or scan disk program, the bad sector will be marked and will not be used. You will be propected from using the bad address on the HD.

You will have to back up your hard drive. There is no way that you can prevent wear on anything with moving parts, except not to use it. I’ve installed a second drive and use Norton Ghost to create an image of my drive, and I back up twice a month.

You are right. Eventually your hard drive will fail. I suggest you backup your data to a second internal drive or an external USB drive. So when you do get the failure you can get all your precious data back.

Well you can’t prevent this, only predict it, and do the appropriate things, so you save your data.
Hard drive ,as almost all devices have a MTBF=Mean Time Before Failure.

RAM usually has a life time quarantee these days, but hardrive sometime will need to be replace.

Download and install Speedfan (it’s free) so you can monitor temperature of your system and HARD DISK condition.

So you know when it’s time to replace hard disk and has the time to make back ups for your data.
