I have two computers, both of which I want to do a memory upgrade for.
**Each have four slots
[Comp 1] - DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) has 2x 1GB
—-I want to add 2x 2GB (same brand)
[Comp 2] - DDR 400 (PC 3200) has 2x 512MB
—-I want to add 2x 1GB or 2x 2GB (different brand)
As long as they are in pairs will they work? Will the capacity or brand differences cause a problem?

It shouldn’t cause any problems, as long as they are compatible with your motherboard.

Brand doesn’t matter usually if it certified for your board.
DDR is different than DDR2 and you won’t even fit in the slot of the other board, but you probably know that.
Capacity doesn’t matter, but if you have 2 different speeds (PC 3200) the computer will work on the slower speed.

Brand-matching memory is not a really big factor in the overall performance of your PC, and different capacities, installed in pairs, shouldn’t be a problem either. Just make sure you buy a set of chips with good reviews and you will be fine.
