My computer is about to crash big time [It's always overheating and shutting down]. I thought the smart thing to do would be to get all the pictures, videos, music, etc. off of it before it crashed. What are things I can buy [That are not to expensive] that would be perfect to save those files?

I would suggest getting an external hard drive or investing in a new computer.
Of course, if it’s just overheating, you might just have too much dust in your case or a broken fan. If your computer’s a desktop, unplug it from everything (not just the power), open up your computer’s case (be careful not to shock any of the boards), blow out any dust that’s accumulated around the fan or other areas, check the fan to make sure it isn’t stuck or having other problems.
You can use an external hard drive to store your pictures, videos, documents, etc. External hard drives are commonly used for data backup.
A new computer might be a better idea if you’re sure the computer’s dying.

USB sticks are dirty cheap now. You can get an 8 gig stick for less than 40 bucks. Also there are usb to ide / sata adapters now so you can eventually rip out your hard drive and back it all up to another machine later.
