where in windows xp can i check what computer memory upgrade i need?

where in my xp computer can i find exactly what memory sticks i need for an upgrade.

example like can i look in cp and it possibly says “this computer takes pc 2700 ddr 330 184pin, max 4 gb - i got 2 1x gig sticks and it didn’t do anything. the computer made noise beeps.

    go to the crucial memory site, they have a prog that will detect it for you.

    You’re going to need to know what model of computer you have or at least what model of motherboard you have.

    From there you can find out the specs of the computer/board and then see what speed of ram it supports.

    Try to stick with all of the same speed of RAM as all of it will only run as fast as the slowest speed RAM in the machine.
