You can go to control panel, add remove programs, select the program you want to uninstall and click remove.
That is enough for most of applications.

go to disk clean up. It will remove a lot of unseen program file. Its under accessories in the start menu.

It depends on which programs it is, some of them you can just configure them not to start up when your computer starts up, others you can do add/remove in control panel, and if all else fails, you can run regedit and pay a visit to hkey_local_machine/ software/ microsoft/ windows/ currentversion/ run and delete them out of there, of course like I tell everybody, be careful what you delete out of your registry, it can seriously foul up your machine if you don’t know what you’re doing.

There are three programs that I use on my daughters computer (she “inherits” our older ones as we upgrade through the years).
They are mainly for XP, but I assume will work on other OS
All of the info is on my blog: chazb.info
Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions, etc.
